Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he's learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
