Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complicated but popular poker games. It's a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting ensues where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. A further sequence of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to make the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some entrants can get baffled. Unlike Holdem, where the board can make up everyone's hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to use precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It's the best possible hand out of everyone's, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It's the identical approach in almost all poker games.

The lower hand is more complicated, but certainly free's up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the higher hand wins the complete pot.

It may seem complex at the outset, after a few hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of the game with ease. Since you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha High-Low offers an overwhelming collection of wagering choices and because you have several players battling for the high hand, as well as a few shooting for the low.
