Internet poker has become world acclaimed lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up just before the croupier declares "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the house and of course all of the different players receive five cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino's 1st card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager's value is equal to your beginning ante, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your wager goes directly to the house. After the bet is the showdown. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including a figure in accordance with the ante. If the house has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand is greater than the bank's hand. The bank pays out money equal to your original bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
