Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu's full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hold'em and hold'em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
