Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with quads against Daniel's full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won't have heard of. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha hold'em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
