Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event.
