When the flop lands, the value of your hand will most likely be made clear. In the event you land the top rated pair on the board, you've got a major advantage with a major pair/top kicker situation. You will usually win bets put in by players using the same pair, except a lesser kicker.

You'll also beat excellent starting hands like Queen-Queen, and Jj if they don't flop their 3-of-a-kind. Not to mention that when you flop a flush or a flush draw, you are going to be drawing to the nut, or greatest achievable flush. These are all things that make AKs such a nice starting hand to have.

Except what if the flop comes, and misses you. You'll still have two overcards (cards higher than any of individuals on the board). What are your chances now for catching an Ace or perhaps a King for the turn or the river and salvaging your hand? Needless to say this only works if a pair is able to salvage the hand and is going to be good enough to win the pot.

If the Ace or King you would like to see land within the board does not also fill in someone else's straight or flush draw, you would have 6 cards (3 remaining Kings and three outstanding Aces) that may give you the top rated pair.

With those 6 outs, the chances of landing your card about the turn are roughly one in 8, so if you're planning on placing money into the pot to chase it, appear for at least 7 dollars in there for every one dollar you are willing to bet to keep the pot chances even. All those chances will not change a great deal about the river.

Although betting poker by the odds does not guarantee that you will win every single hand, or even each and every session, not knowing the likelihood is really a dangerous situation for anyone at the poker table that's thinking of risking their money in a pot.
