Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He says that he's picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
