Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn't a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he's learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
