Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
